Process & appointment

Prevent connects you with accredited laboratories and partner practices through a digital platform. Here's how it works: you choose a health package, book an appointment at a partner practice near you, and have your blood drawn there. The laboratory analyses your sample and produces a medical report. You can then simply view your results in the app afterwards — presented in a visually clear way, with context, a timeline view and easy-to-understand explanations for every value.

Yes — for meaningful results, we recommend not eating for 8–12 hours before your appointment. Drinking water is explicitly allowed, and even recommended, as it makes the venous blood draw easier. Please only follow this preparation if there are no health reasons against it. Whether health reasons apply is for your doctor to assess. Very importantly: medication or food supplements prescribed by a doctor must not be changed without first consulting your doctor. Don't worry — you'll receive all the information again by email after booking.

A valid ID card or passport for identification. Everything else — the lab order, sample dispatch, barcode assignment and digital processing — is handled automatically by Prevent. You don't need to print anything out or bring along anything else.

Usually 10–15 minutes. The venous blood draw itself only takes a few minutes. Allow a little extra time for checking in at the practice. There's no need for an extensive discussion before or after — your results are provided digitally through the app.

Through the Prevent app or website. You first choose your health package, then a partner practice near you, and then an available appointment slot. The whole booking process takes about two minutes. You'll receive a confirmation by email and a reminder before your appointment.

Yes, you can reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your appointment — directly in the app under My appointments. For shorter-notice changes, please contact the partner practice directly.

Packages & services

Prevent offers health packages on various topics, some available in different tiers (Essential, Pro), for a comprehensive overview as well as for targeted analyses of specific areas such as fitness. You can also put together your own individual package from single parameters. All packages include the venous blood draw, laboratory analysis, assessment by specialist physicians and digital processing in the app. You can find an overview of all our packages at: https://prevent-app.com/en/packages

The difference lies in the range of biomarkers analysed. Essential covers the key baseline values and is the more affordable option. Pro adds further, and in some cases more informative, parameters — which come at a higher price — giving you greater diagnostic depth and breadth.

Yes, you can add individual add-on parameters to any package — for example vitamin D, hormones and much more. The add-ons are analysed as part of the same blood draw. To do this, put together an individual package with the add-on parameters you'd like.

No. If you combine several packages, any overlapping parameters are automatically deducted — you only pay for each biomarker once. You'll see the adjustment directly in the price overview during booking.

Results & app

Usually within 2–3 working days after the blood draw. You'll receive a push notification and an email as soon as your results are available in the app.

Prevent presents your lab values in a visual format: at a glance you can see how many values fall within the reference range, view individual parameters over time, and get easy-to-understand explanations and scientific context for every value. The display is colour-coded, so you can immediately see where you stand — no medical background needed.

Prevent itself does not make diagnoses or give treatment recommendations. The platform presents your lab results in an understandable way and provides general health knowledge. The medical assessment is carried out by the specialist physicians in laboratory medicine who assess the results: if your values indicate clinically relevant abnormalities or risk profiles, this is noted and commented on in the medical report. In such cases, Prevent recommends discussing the results with your treating doctor in order to decide on possible next steps together.

Your first test establishes your personal baseline — your individual starting point. In follow-up tests, Prevent shows you not only whether your values fall within the general reference range, but also how they are developing compared with your own previous values.

Not yet — but integration of wearable data (e.g. from Apple Health, Oura, Garmin or WHOOP) is already in development and will be available soon. If you're interested, or if particular integrations matter to you, we'd love to hear your feedback at feedback@prevent-app.com.

Yes. You can export your results as a PDF at any time and share them with your doctor. The export includes all values, reference ranges and the specialist medical report.

Medicine & quality

Fundamentally. Prevent uses a venous blood draw performed by a doctor — not capillary blood from a fingertip. The analysis is carried out in accredited laboratories to the same standards used in clinical diagnostics. Every report is produced by specialist physicians in laboratory medicine. Drugstore self-tests often use different methods that are less precise and don't include an assessment by a doctor.

Your lab values are assessed by specialist physicians in laboratory medicine. Prevent then presents the results visually and in an easy-to-understand way, but does not make any medical statements of its own.

Yes. All laboratories that Prevent works with are accredited to DIN EN ISO 15189 — the international standard for medical laboratories. They undergo regular quality controls and work to the highest quality standards.

Abnormal values are flagged and commented on in the report by the assessing specialist physicians. In the app, you'll see a clear visual marker showing which values fall outside the reference range. In such cases, Prevent recommends discussing the results with your doctor.

Costs & billing

Using the Prevent app is completely free. You only pay for the medical services — that is, the blood draw at the partner practice and the laboratory analysis including the medical report. Billing follows the official fee schedule for physicians (GOÄ) — the legally defined framework used to charge for medical and laboratory services throughout Germany. So you pay exactly the same rates you would pay at your GP, a specialist, or any other laboratory in Germany. Prevent doesn't add any extra fees. The digital presentation of your results, the timeline view and all app features are included in the price.

Prevent receives a usage fee from partner laboratories and partner practices for providing the technical infrastructure — for example, appointment management, digital report delivery, and so on. Your personal health data is not sold, not shared with third parties, and not used for advertising purposes — neither today nor in the future.

Prevent services are currently self-pay services and are not covered by statutory health insurance. Some private health insurances and supplementary insurances reimburse preventive laboratory diagnostics — it is worth asking your insurance provider. Billing is based on the fee schedule for physicians (GOÄ), which facilitates reimbursement for many private insurance plans.

Payment is made online directly at the time of booking. Prevent accepts all common payment methods: credit and debit cards (VISA, Mastercard, Amex), Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.

Yes. You'll receive invoices that comply with the GOÄ fee schedule. If you've already confirmed eligibility for reimbursement, you can submit these invoices to your private insurance provider.
